Today was our last day on the island and we are pretty sad to be going home. Luckily our flight does not leave until 10:00pm and so we have the whole day to enjoy. We packed up and left the beautiful house that we have spent the last five days in. Our next stop was the Dole pineapple plantation where we ate some delicious pineapple ice cream. Then we quickly drove to the other side of the island to visit Pearl Harbor. The video that they showed at the visitors center was really neat with all of the real footage of the actual bombing. Then we got to ride a boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial. The battleship boat is still under the water where it sunk on the day of the attack. It really made us grateful for all of those people who sacrificed for our freedom. We found a soldier with the last name 'Maddox' (click on the last pic to see "R.D. Maddox CEM"). Any Maddox's know if we are related?

After we were finished there, the girls wanted to do more shopping at the International Marketplace over in Waikiki. Sarah and her sister each got pearl jewlery and Rob enjoyed practicing his Korean with the sales people. We walked a little ways up the beach and realized how good we had it over on the North Shore of the island. The Waikiki beach was so crowded we could hardly walk around. To end our Hawaiian adventure we took a drive up the west side of the island to see what kinds of beaches were over there. It was a lot dryer than the other side but still pretty. We didn't like it quite as much because there were a lot of homeless people camping on the beaches but it was fun to see that side of the island. Finally we head to the airport for the long redeye flight home.
